"wild and fun" "evocative and beautiful" "absolutely stellar work"
My remix for Goldfrapp’s Drew got some glowing reviews, so I couldn’t resist making a video to go with it. The original song is haunting and nostalgic, and I added a grandfather clock, an oboe and mandolin. Happy memories and lost time are the main themes here in my short film, and I combine found footage with a visit to the Norfolk holidays of my childhood.

Happy Holidays to all 1,311 followers of The Vibes around the planet. And to my casual readers, the Follow button is down there in the right hand column 😉
It’s not the kind of title you expect to see on The Vibes, so let’s embrace the unexpected for a moment here. The remaining movies which accompany Goldfrapp’s Tales Of Us album were leaked recently, and for just a fleeting moment I was able to steal some screen caps from the video for Jo, which seems to be about split personalities and murderous passion. The result is this imaginary movie poster, continuing the horror theme which snakes through the album.

This is my remix of Thea, made into a horror movie. Halloween is just a click away….
Achingly beautiful, David Sylvian’s September is a dusty old photograph of a song. It’s a snapshot of Satie-style piano, oblique and wistful: the flickering memories of a great summer. The vocal is mannered, coming from Sylvian’s early solo work, but the effect is wonderful. I live for summer and worship the sun, and this song is my annual ritual. Autumn’s in the air…
