Two Years Old Today!

The Vibes is One Year Old animated gif

Ok, it says ‘1 year old’, but this is last year’s birthday card, and I can’t be bothered changing it to a ‘2’.

.

It’s a lot of work (some people think it’s a real neon sign according to Pinterest!) I’ve had the best time blogging on WordPress, meeting new people and making connections with like-minded people around the planet. I’ve had an instant and appreciative audience for my photography, videos and artwork and even some music that I’ve made. We’ve been visited by the famous, and featured in French newspapers and Freshly Pressed.

.

99,000 hits, 876 followers and 8 awards… blow that trumpet.

.
Here’s to many more years of The Vibes!

  1. I love the lay out of your blog.
Congrats on your 2 years.I’m getting close to my 2 week mark!
    Cheers,
    Jennifer

    • Cheers, Jennifer. I got a buzz out of finding my audience and setting the tone of my blog – I made some great connections with creative people.

  2. Herman

Congrats Mark, these are impressive numbers…

  3. Congratulations – well deserved plaudits! I’m sure Mrs Madrigal would give you a little something for your achievement!

    • Hi Tony! We would be sitting in the garden about now, listening to mournful foghorns drifting up from the bay. I’d be sipping a Mojito while Mrs. Madrigal lights a joint and inhales with gusto. Her eyes close and when they open she’s smiling at me.

‘Quite a day.’ She is regarding me again, looking into me, but this time with some admiration. ‘You haven’t been blogging for more than two years and already you’re raising hell.’ She smiles and reaches across to take my hand in hers. ‘What are we going to do with you?’ For a moment she looks at me and we both dissolve into fits of giggles and I realise we’re stoned. It may be too soon but I allow myself to relax.

Above Russian Hill, dawn is nudging the night sky. ‘Ninety-nine thousand viewers…’ I whisper, gazing at nothing in particular.

With great deliberation she says, “Do you think you could get an old lady a drink?’

  4. Happy blogday! xx

  5. Congrats, Mark! It is very impressive and fun to see what you’ve achieved in and built in two years. I’m had my two years anniversary in January but am not even close to your figures and sometimes a little bit jealous of your beautifully customized layout 🙂 Well done.

    • You have a great blog- your content stands up on its own. The Vibes has taught me a lot about building a following, and I’ve been lucky with Freshly Pressed and Armistead Maupin making a big difference to my popularity. Congratulations on your two years!

  6. Congratulations! So nice to meet you and follow you in pictures.

  7. By the way, happy birthday! I’m glad we’ve gotten to know each other in this weird way.

  8. Belated congratulations! Now that you’re Two, you’ll have to show me the way to behave as a blogging toddler (I’ll turn two in July). I can’t think of a better example to follow! Cheers,
    Kathryn

    • Thanks Kathryn, but you influenced me with your flair for writing and visuals. So what can I say? Toddler bloggers like us should carry on entertaining our followers, make lots of noise and throw food. It’s why they love us!

  9. What a wonderful accomplishment, you must be so proud. I love your blog, somehow I always end up smiling when I visit, thank you. Nikki

    • Thats so good to hear, Nikki. I started this blog as something to brighten my day, so if it entertains others then I’m more than happy. Good vibes!

Let me know what you think...
